Heart Soft As Gold

She's weathered the storm of many a hard time

And survived the high waves that drown the weak

The short life, has been a hard life, painful and

Challenging her every wit with tongue in cheek

A woman hard on the outside, with a heart soft as gold

There's been many a man try to bridle her spirit

And keep her under their thumb

But she came back, rearing and raring to go

With no way to hold her, or make her succumb

A woman hard on the outside, with a heart soft as gold

She carries her staff with a warning to mind her

Respect her ways and no harsh words to bind her

In her left hand are flowers she keeps always behind her

She'll only let you see them if you're as soft as fur

A woman hard on the Outside, with a heart soft as gold
